Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Recognized for Best Student-Athlete Experience

Bowl wins Bestie Award for Battle for Bowl Week competition at Bowl Season annual meeting

ATLANTA (April 20, 2023) – The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl yesterday was named the winner of the inaugural Bowl Season Besties Award for the "Best in Student-Athlete Experience" category for its Battle for Bowl Week competition.

The Bowl Season Besties Awards were created to recognize "best in class" among the bowl games membership. Winners were announced yesterday at the Bowl Season Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, where the finalists of five categories were voted on by a committee comprised of Bowl Executive Directors and the Bowl Season Awards Committee.

"The purpose of the Bowl Season Besties is to honor 'best-in-class' in the bowl industry," said Bowl Season Executive Director Nick Caparelli. "In sharing and recognizing the finalists at the Bowl Season Annual Meeting, we hope these awards will spark ideas and help all bowls achieve even greater success. It's always an honor to be recognized by your peers."

Bowl Season's "Best in Student-Athlete Experience" category recognizes various ways bowl games create positive, unique, and memorable experiences for the teams and their student-athletes. The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl was selected based its creativity and student-athlete impact for its annual Battle for Bowl Week competition.

The Battle for Bowl Week features a series of competitions designed to enhance the Bowl Week experience for student-athletes by bringing their competitive nature into areas off the playing field at several venues throughout the week. Competitions test the players physically and mentally, and consist of five events, including Football Feud, Drop It Like It's Hot, Basketball Challenge, Andretti Indoor Go-Karting and Bowling. The team who wins the majority of the Battle for Bowl Week competitions is then awarded with the coveted Battle for Bowl Week Championship Belt.

"Part of our mission is to positively impact people's lives by celebrating college athletics, through best-in-class events and activities that create memorable experiences," said Peach Bowl, Inc. CEO and President Gary Stokan. "Being recognized with this honor shows that we're staying true to our mission and creating lasting memories for all of the student-athletes and teams who play in our game each year."

This year's Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will be played Dec. 29 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and will feature top-ranked teams as assigned by the College Football Playoff.
