Peach Bowl

In his first bowl appearance as a head coach, Young guided Purdue to a 41-21 victory over Georgia Tech in the 1978 Peach Bowl. He improved his record in bowl games to 5-0 at the 1985 Peach Bowl, when his Army Cadets toppled Illinois by a score of 31-29. Young was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year in 1978 and was later inducted into the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame as a part of the class of 1999.
