ATLANTA (Oct. 27, 2026) - Officials from the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Peach Bowl, Inc. today announced that UCF head football coach Scott Frost has been selected as The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week.
The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week award honors a football coach who led his team to a significant victory during the previous week, while also embodying the award's three pillars of scholarship, leadership and integrity.
Frost and the Knights held on to upset No. 2 BYU, 39-31, in double overtime Saturday in front of a raucous homecoming crowd at the Acrisure Bounce House. Junior running back Landen Chambers led the way for UCF on offense, scoring both rushing and receiving touchdowns in the second quarter. UCF quarterback Keyone Jenkins enjoyed his best game as a Knight, combining for four total touchdowns with 25 completions for 293 yards and 11 carries for 35 yards. Jenkins connected with tight end Grayson Brousseau for the eventual game-winning, 2-yard touchdown in the second overtime. The UCF defense then applied pressure when it mattered most, forcing three BYU incompletions from the 4-yard line to secure the victory.
Currently in the second season of his second stint as head coach at UCF, Frost continues to make his mark on the program. The Knights' victory over No. 2 BYU marked the highest-ranked win in program history. Before Saturday, UCF's most recent top 10 victory had come during Frost's first tenure, when his Knights capped off an undefeated 2017 season with a 34-27 win over No. 7 Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
With his 28th win as head coach of the Knights, Frost moved into a tie for the fourth-most wins in program history. His .622 winning percentage is now the best among UCF coaches with at least 40 games coached.
"Coach Frost is already a legendary figure at UCF and has once again delivered one of the most noteworthy victories in program history," said Chairman of the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation Jim Terry. "This win will be remembered for generations to come in Orlando as the Knights pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season."
Off the football field, Frost's players have had success in the classroom, recording a 968 Academic Progress Rate and a 91 Graduation Success Rate during the 2024 season. The Graduation Success Rate measures the number of student-athletes who graduate from their school within six years of entering.
"What a great win for the UCF program in a game that could have gone either way at the end" said Peach Bowl, Inc. President and CEO
David Epps. "We were fortunate enough to witness Coach Frost's leadership first-hand when we hosted his undefeated Knights in 2017. He took UCF to new heights that season and is once again making his mark in Orlando after capturing the highest-ranked win in program history."
Managed by Peach Bowl, Inc., The Dodd Trophy, college football's most coveted national coaching award, celebrates the head coach of a team who enjoys success on the gridiron, while also stressing the importance of
scholarship, leadership and integrity – the three pillars of legendary coach Bobby Dodd's coaching philosophy. The award was established to honor the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division 1A) head football coach whose program represents the highest ideals on and off the field.
A panel consisting of all previous winners, national media, a member of the Dodd family and a College Football Hall of Fame member will identify the final list of potential recipients at the conclusion of the 2026 season. The winner of the 2026 Dodd Trophy will be announced in Atlanta during the week of the CFP Quarterfinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
